10:00-11:00

Room 1 – ​EENY MEENY MANY GAMES
It’s easy to get stuck in a rut when teaching very young learners. They need routines, but teachers need to be careful to not always teach the same thing in the same way. In this session, I will share some of my most successful games and motivating activities that will have your students engaged and having fun! We’ll also look at how to maximize students’ speaking time so they get the most out of the hour.

Room 2 – FɅN A SPEL WITH AN /Ʌ/
It’s time to break the sound barrier and give pronunciation the place it deserves in the EFL classroom! This session will aim at providing teachers with the necessary tools and inspiration to start integrating the much dreaded phonemic chart and other relevant aspects of phonology into the classroom in a dynamic and entertaining way, so as to give students the boost they need to be the most confident speakers and even better listeners. All levels of phonological experience welcome!.

Room 3 -​BOOST THOSE B1 SCORES!
This session will show you how to boost your students’ B1 SPEAKING AND WRITING SCORES. It’s not enough for them to have studied B1 grammar and vocabulary; teachers need to show students how to implement those skills in other parts of the exam. We will look at how to improve speaking and writing skills and how to give effective FEEDBACK.

Room 1 – MAGIC IN THE CLASSROOM
As teachers we need to create magic! You might be thinking that it’s impossible, but magic appears with the power of engagement. We should share information in a beautiful way so that our students soak it all in, just as they would a compelling story. We can all teach content and theory but with the absence of magic, learning means nothing. Throughout this session I will be sharing guided activities in which students should be activated and engaged for a full understanding in the classroom.

Room 2 – SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT
We’ve all been there once upon a time as a teenager, but perhaps we can’t quite recall how we felt or acted. It’s a well-known fact that a person’s teenage years are complicated and their behaviour can become unpredictable, and therefore a challenge for us teachers to deal with. This session will enlighten you on how to engage with your teens and keep them motivated and productive until the end of the course.

Room 3 – B1 STEP AHEAD WITH LISTENING AND READING
Reading and listening lessons can be dull for teachers and students alike, but they really don’t have to be! How can we best prepare our students for the listening and reading sections of the B1 exam, while keeping our exhausted students entertained? In this session, I will be sharing games and engaging activities that I use to successfully prepare students for the LISTENING and READING sections of the Cambridge PET exam.

Room 1 – SPEL IT RITE!
Spelling matters and students struggle with it. What are the typical mistakes that our Spanish students make and how can we prevent them from happening? In this session you will be provided with lots of spelling games and fun activities for the whole range of primary students.

Room 2 – WHY SO SERIOUS?
Why don’t you brighten up your classroom? It’s a proven fact that a healthy learning environment is crucial to a student’s performance in class. Our students, like us the teachers, have complex emotions and we often have to deal with their emotional baggage in our classes. This session will look at practical and creative ways to liven up the classroom atmosphere and channel our students’ emotions in a positive and productive manner.

Room 3 – CONVERSATION CLASS, NOT JUST A CHAT
A chat can be an enjoyable way to spend a lesson although many students at B2 and above feel they lack sufficient fluency to have a serious conversation. Being able “to hold your end up” in a second language is one of the most rewarding activities a student can have and always very popular. What should we talk about? Should the language be targeted? How much correction is enough? I’ll answer these questions and also discuss ways to give students tangible gains.
